This week’s Saturday selection is Oprah’s new television network:
OWN.
Like many of us, I grew up watching Oprah. I have learned so much from her show over the years and continue to be inspired by all that she does to empower each of us to live our best lives.
And while I am going to miss watching her show each day, I am so happy that she’s now able to spread her positive message and reach so many through her new network.
If you haven’t seen the shows on it yet, I would definitely recommend tuning in.
Each is handpicked by Oprah herself, and they are filled with feel good vibes that will definitely have you coming back for more.
Here is Oprah’s plan and vision for the network:
I said from the beginning that this was an opportunity for me to step out of the box and make the kind of shows that make my heart sing.

Master Class
Oprah handpicks celebrities who are masterful at what they do. People who can help teach us what they have learned so far on their journey. I absolutely loved them all, but Oprah’s was definitely my favorite. She has so much wisdom, and I took so much away for my own life after watching her.
Enough Already with Peter Walsh
Peter Walsh is the decluttering expert, and in this show he helps hoarders get to the heart of the matter knowing that it’s not about the material things but rather about something much deeper. I love the breakthrough moments in this show – that moment when the person realizes what is really driving the clutter. That is when the change can begin.
Our America with Lisa Ling
Lisa Ling travels our country and shows us a glimpse into certain subcultures that we may not have otherwise been exposed to. She is such a compassionate reporter who truly does a wonderful job of telling their stories.
A surprise favorite:
The Judds
This chronicles Naomi and Wynonna Judd’s journey together – both through the country as they tour for their final concert together and also their personal journeys of growth and learning how to better communicate and love each other. It’s very raw and very real.
There are so many other great shows in the works that I’m very excited about.
I just love that there is an entire network built on positivity, growth, inspiration, and quality.
And I trust that Oprah will continue choosing shows that reflect this wonderful mission.
If you haven’t tuned in already, I would encourage you to do so.
A daily dose of warm fuzzies and positivity
goes a long way in helping you create a happy life.
And this network definitely does that!

This is a great exercise to do when you are feeling great about yourself, and then you can go back to it and reread it whenever you need a little self-esteem boost.
If you aren’t sure what sort of impact you make on their lives, ask them.
I’m sure they would love to share how wonderful you are, how much joy you bring them, and how happy they are to have you in their life.
This is a great way to bring you closer together, too. And positive feedback and warm fuzzies are always so good to hear and feel.

P.S. – Thank you to everyone who has answered our weekly poll so far! It’s in the top right corner, and there is still time to answer. It’s about the things you do to relax and recharge, and reading and spending time with pets are the top two choices so far!

Today is a special day, and I have a feeling I’m about to get a bit sappy here…

It was the most magical day, and I still feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
When we met we felt like we were continuing a conversation from long ago.
He was so familiar to me, and I felt like I had finally come home.
We were (and still are) two peanuts in a peanut shell.
We complement each other perfectly.
We spend all of our time together – loving each other, learning together, and being grateful that we get to share our lives.
He is the kindest person I have ever known.
His heart is pure, and his love is true.
I get to share each day with the most amazing man!
I am so thankful and so blessed.
Happy Anniversary, Dan.

Dan and I were playing Pictionary the other night and I picked the word, =&0=&. I drew test tubes, a beaker, and a thermometer to show the heat. While we weren’t able to guess it before the time ran out, it did get us thinking about the other meanings of the word.
The meaning that stuck with me and is still here days later is,

There is something very satisfying to me about sitting on it for awhile rather than immediately acting on it.
Let it germinate – let the seeds start sprouting before taking any action.
We have been given a wonderful opportunity to put this concept into action immediately.
And before we probably would’ve acted right away – but this time we are sitting, pondering, weighing the options, and just letting the idea of it grow and blossom inside of us before we put it out into the world and act on it.
Can you think of an idea, goal, or plan that you can let incubate?
Is there anything in the back of your mind that you are ready to “give birth” to?
Have you ever tried to think of a word and the harder you tried to think of it the harder it was to remember?
And then did you notice when you gave up the struggle of trying to think of it, it just suddenly came to you?

Sometimes it feels like life is just connecting one “to do” to the next.
It can feel busy and overwhelming and stressful.
Dan and I spend our days working on orders and making calls and answering emails and coming up with new products and writing and marketing and taking pictures and having meetings and delivering product and packing orders and sometimes in the midst of all of this we step back and take a moment to check in with ourselves.
That’s when we realize just how tired we truly are.
When this happens, it’s time to go back to the basics.
We put everything else aside and take some time to catch up, get organized, go within, and slow it all down. I am a creature of habit – and monotony and routines can be very comforting when I start to feel frazzled.
There is something very soothing about putting on some soft music, getting a warm drink, lighting a candle, and then getting to it – I file papers, respond to emails, organize the studio, and clean out my inbox. Every task that I finish clears up space in my mind for fresh ideas and new energy, which is such a great feeling!
I take some time for myself, too. I curl up on the couch and watch tv. I read. I write. I play a game. I sleep. I slow down my thoughts. I recharge.
This feels like a good day for me to get back to the basics. And the weather is cooperating, too. The mountains got a dusting of snow this morning – it’s cloudy and feels like a blustery winter day. Perfect for staying inside, catching up, and recharging.
When you start to feel overwhelmed and it seems like things are spinning around you – what are some things you can do to get back to basics?
What can you do to simplify and calm your mind?
