yes small

There are so many powerful, life-changing words in our language: love, forgive, dream, leap, to name just a few.

But there’s one in particular that I think is the most powerful of them all. It’s a word that didn’t used to be a regular part of my vocabulary. It’s a word that was scary for me to use – it felt foreign or too big.

The word I’m talking about is: YES.

Oh my gosh, when I started using it, my entire world opened up in such beautiful ways.

When I started speaking it out loud, my energy shifted from someone who was afraid of life to someone who embraced life.

When I began living from a “yes” space rather than a “no” space, absolutely everything in my life changed.

I had gotten into the habit of saying no to every opportunity, experience, adventure. Basically I had gotten into the habit of saying no to life. And so my life was really controlled and really constricted and really small and really safe.

The difference in energy between these two words is tangible. “No” feels like a tight, hard stop. And “yes” feels like an open, light flow.

I was tired of being small. I was tired of playing it safe. I was tired of squashing my dreams and desires simply because I was too afraid to get out there and go after them. I was tired of keeping my heart closed off to loving fully and freely.

And so I slowly began saying yes. And little by little I saw that my life didn’t fall apart, I didn’t fall apart, and everyone else’s lives didn’t fall apart. It was the opposite. My life came together for the first time ever – I fell in love, I embraced my calling, I made life-long soul connections. I trusted my soul. I surrendered to the universe.

I said yes. To everything that felt right. Everything that fed my soul. Everything that I knew I wanted to say yes to. It’s been such an empowering way to live.

And whenever I start to go back to my default “no” setting, I remind myself how amazing I feel when I say yes. I look at all of the times in the past when I have said yes and remember how freeing I felt. I see the evidence of the beautiful experiences that took place because I said yes.

I ask my fear to step aside, and I allow my heart to say yes – loudly and proudly.

It’s so, so freeing. And I wish that feeling for all of us.

I created a poster to help you say yes to life, love, and dreams!

You can click on it below to print it out. It measures 8×10 and is saved at high resolution.

It’s my gift to you because I know how much my own life changed when I began saying yes instead of no, and I would love to help us all see how freeing this one word can truly be.

yes
