This post is dedicated to my sweet dog-ter, Xena,
who passed away at the age of 14 on December 17th.
When we first said hello
On a spring day in 2003, I saw a ball of fluff bounding up to me out of the corner of my eye. You were an energetic, beautiful, vibrant dog with the sweetest smile that I’d ever seen. You jumped into my arms right away, and I knew that you were something special.
We had just moved to this isolated road in the middle of the New Mexican mountains.
I experienced something pretty amazing the other day:
While in the middle of shampooing my hair in the shower, half spacing out and half worrying about everything that needed to be done, I felt a hand on my shoulder.
I quickly turned around, assuming it was Dan, and no one was there.
It wasn’t a light tap. And it wasn’t a shove. It was a warm full-palmed hand on my shoulder that lasted for only a second.
While I would love to say that some clear message came through right then and

I’ll
There are so many powerful, life-changing words in our language: love, forgive, dream, leap, to name just a few.
But there’s one in particular that I think is the most powerful of them all. It’s a word that didn’t used to be a regular part of my vocabulary. It’s a word that was scary for me to use – it felt foreign or too big.
The word I’m talking about is: YES.
Oh my gosh, when I started using it, my entire world opened up in such beautiful ways.
When I started
Today is one of those days where I’m calling on my spiritual team to swoop in and support me. I’m asking for my inner strength to help me get through. I’m surrendering to the universe because that’s really all I feel able to do.
Sometimes life catches up with us. And sometimes things that are completely out of our control swoop in and knock us down.
When that happens, it’s so good to know that we can count on our soul to see us through. It’s so comforting to know
