It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to write a post about gratitude!

Today I am grateful that I have complete control of my life. There is something very satisfying in this. I am the only one who is responsible for my own well being. I am the only one who can make sure that I am eating well, sleeping enough, working less, and living more. Just me. Sure, others can make suggestions and some I listen to and take into consideration – but in the end, the final decision of how I live my life always falls back onto me.

Realizing this is so empowering.

No one else can live our life for us. No one else can be responsible for our life.

We each are the caretakers for our soul – for our body – for our hearts – for our minds – for each and every part of our lives. This is a huge responsibility.

And lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve been falling a bit short in this area. I have been forgetting to take care of myself. I have gone back to my default setting of working, working, and then working some more. It’s easier this way. It’s comfortable here in the chaos. But my soul has been suffering.

And I am so grateful that I can decide right here and now to get back on track. I love that no matter how many times we fall off the self-care wagon, we have the power to get right back on. We can choose to do this – it’s our responsibility to do this.

So this is what I am doing right now.

I am vowing to sleep more, work less (even just a little bit), take my vitamins, take time that’s just for me, remember to take deep breaths, center myself, go for walks, spend more time laughing and less time worrying, and just be me.

I am so grateful that each of us gets to choose how we live our lives. The power to take responsibility for our lives occurs with each breath that we take. We get to decide which path we want to walk on. And we get to get back on it each and every time we veer off. And for that I am extra grateful.
