Saturday Selection – A Helpful Book!

I always look forward to the Saturday Selection post because I get to share and recommend things that I love – things that have helped me – things that I truly feel will help you, too. Today’s selection is no exception. It’s Louise Hay’s book: Heal Your Body A-Z The Mental Causes for Physical Illness and the Way to Overcome Them We all have experienced a physical sensation as a result of an emotion. Think about the first time you fell in love – you felt a rush all over your body and tingles in your stomach. If you have stage fright, think about what your body experiences before you give a speech – you get a dry mouth and maybe feel a bit shaky and queasy. We hold our emotions in our bodies.  And sometimes emotions get stuck in certain places, which can cause a physical illness. (ex., such as someone who develops an ulcer from worrying or someone who has a heart attack due to too much stress.) Throughout the years, Louise Hay has counseled thousands of people and given many workshops. She started noticing patterns for physical illness and the thoughts that were behind them. Her extensive research helped her put together this amazing book, where she lists where in our bodies we hold certain emotions and then gives us affirmations to say to help us heal any illness that has manifested. Here is an example: Let’s say you’ve had a really bad headache on and off for the past week.  If you look up “headache” in the book, here is what it says: Probable cause: Invalidating the self. Self-criticism, Fear.

Saturday Selection – A Funny TV Show!

=&0=&  I needed that more than ever today,  so I was extra happy to see the funniest dvd arrive in the mail:  Just for Laughs!  If you haven’t seen it, it’s sort of like Candid Camera but without words. The gags are the funniest that I have seen, and I always know that I’ll be laughing out loud and laughing hard by the time an episode ends.  Taking time to laugh each day is crucial to our own wellbeing.  It releases all of the stress from the day. It allows you to be free and light and happy.  I definitely recommend watching this show. I guarantee it will make you laugh – it’s just so silly! If you haven’t seen it before, here are two of my favorite gags: Hope you enjoyed them! Have fun laughing!

Saturday Selection – A Wonderful Movie!

We watched a wonderful movie last night – one that came highly recommended.  =&0=&=&1=& =&2=& It was beautifully done. I love how they wove Dr. Dyer’s teachings with everyday situations and normal people who are struggling in various ways. He teaches about moving away from the ego and moving toward our higher selves.  He talks about how in the morning of our lives we are concerned with ambition and competition (the ego) and how we make the shift in the afternoon of our lives toward serving others, finding meaning in life, and being our best selves. I would definitely recommend this movie – it’s so universal. We are all on our own journey going through life in our own way. And yet, we are all connected, and we all can benefit by going within and getting to know our higher self.  It’s all about letting go and surrendering to the possibility of what’s to come.   =&3=&

Saturday Selection – A Fun Game!

Many years ago, Dan and I were shopping at our favorite thrift store and came across a game that looked really interesting. I believe that things come into our lives when we are ready to receive them, and this was just what we needed then. We were at a crossroads – we were both teaching and felt that we had gotten off our path somehow. We were in a period of transition and transformation – what should our next move be? When we saw this game for $1.99 (brand new), we knew it was ours.  It’s called The Transformation Game, and it’s an amazing tool for looking within and figuring out where you are stuck in different areas of your life. Before you begin, you think about a question or thought that you want to focus on. You then play on different levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual – and each level has insights, setbacks, angel cards, pain, and service. How long you are on the level depends on whether you have any blocks there with regard to your playing focus.  =&0=&

Sometimes life is filled with blessings, insights, and a heart-felt sense of connection with people around us. Other times we stumble through a series of setbacks, accumulating pain, even falling into depression; and nothing we try seems to help us get out of it. Sometimes someone unexpectedly appreciates us or offers to serve us – or we reach out to help another. Sometimes miracles happen, pain is lifted, new directions open up, More

Saturday Selection – A Great Book!

Every Saturday, we will post a great find that we are excited to share with you all! It may be a book, a fellow blogger, or an artist – something that is inspirational and uplifting – something that we feel great about sharing!  Today’s selection is a book that one of our customers recommended  (thanks, Jen from Silver Peanut)! =&0=& =&1=& I have always been a fan of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, and I was reintroduced to Jack Canfield when I read The Secret. He is such a positive person with such great ideas on how we can all live our best lives, so I was really happy to learn about this book. I was happily surprised to see that the coauthors were Jeanna Gabellini and Eva Gregory – two wonderful women I have met through Twitter!  (We even took Eva’s course, Wake Up to the Dream, which I’ll definitely talk about soon.) Needless to say, I had high hopes for this book and I haven’t been disappointed!  I am actually still reading it, but I couldn’t wait to share it with you! It’s so good that I wanted it to be my first Saturday Selection! To let you know more about it, here is the book description directly from Amazon: Do you ever wonder why some people always seem to be at the right place at the right time, enjoying good fortune, health, the ideal mate, happy kids, and achieve more than the average person could ever imagine? Have you wondered what makes them so ‘lucky’ or well connected?
