Love Is In The Air!

It’s another sappy day here in our house: it’s our wedding anniversary! Seven years ago today we shared the most magical moment:  we committed to being together and loving each other for the rest of our lives. And that love has continued to grow, and I feel beyond blessed that our lives are entwined forever.  As a wedding present, our friends made our wedding rings to symbolize our love – two complete souls coming together to share and grow: I wrote this card for Dan, and it quickly became our bestselling card – I’m so glad that there are lots of other happy couples, too! So let’s all celebrate love today – whatever form that takes for you.  There is always enough love to go around. It seems like the more we open our hearts – the more we are able to let in.  Big hugs to all of you!

Saturday Selection – Your Destiny Switch

Happy Saturday! This week’s recommendation is a book that I have been wanting to read for awhile now, and I am just finishing it. I’m so excited to share it with you! It is called: Your Destiny Switch: Master Your Key Emotions, and Attract the Life of Your Dreams! by Peggy McColl Here is the description from Peggy McColl’s website:
Your Destiny Switch isn’t just another self-help book. It’s a powerful concept and process that can consciously and creatively transform your life.

You could call it a paradigm shift in creative consciousness, a shift that speaks to your demand for a richer and more experiential engagement in your quest for growth. More than a book, Your Destiny Switch allows you  to balance your key emotions in order to reach your destiny.

Peggy McColl supports this work with a wealth of reference materials that provide an abundance of valuable and usable life-changing tools: state-shifters, the scale of human emotions, performance indicators, measurement tools, and a daily and weekly destiny planner.

This book will help you understand your own creative power by way of your emotions and, more important, show you how to use this power to create desired results by tapping into a powerful energy source within. ***

I have been listening to Peggy’s radio show, Attracting Abundance, on Hay House Radio. I immediately was drawn to her warmth and enthusiasm More

Spring Clean Your Beliefs

Can you think of a belief that you have that really is outdated or no longer serves you or maybe never really was your belief in the first place? Β Let’s say when you were very young you were afraid to jump off of the high dive at the swimming pool. And from that moment on, you were known as the scaredy cat by your friends and family. Before that, you didn’t feel particularly afraid in other areas of your life, but every time you heard this label, it reinforced this notion that you were afraid of life and timid and weak somehow. And this became part of your identity. Now imagine that you are an adult who is still carrying around this label and belief that wasn’t accurate in the first place. Years have gone by, and because of this belief that you are afraid of everything, you have shied away from opportunities all because of fear. But it’s truly not too late to change this belief. You get to decide each moment of each day how you will react to certain situations, and how you view yourself. So even if this label has become part of your identity, it’s not too late to remove it and replace it with something else – something that feels more like you. Try on a bunch of beliefs and labels and see which fits the best. Remember that only you get to decide. You can get input from your friends and family (although I would encourage – at least in the beginning – doing this exercise on your own), but ultimately you are the one who has the final say. Have fun going through your beliefs and seeing if any of them are outdated or inaccurate for who you have become. Like we clean out our closets each spring and get rid of clothes that we no longer wear or that no longer feel like who were are, we can also do the same thing with our beliefs. Make sure you are only wearing the beliefs that feel the most like you.Your soul will thank you for it!

Pushing Distractions Aside

One of my favorite times of the day is when I sit down to write my blog post. I have some breakfast and sit in front of my computer until a topic comes to me. And then I write.  And sometimes it goes smoothly and effortlessly.   And sometimes life tries to butt in and take over this peaceful space. Usually in my house this happens in the form of cats running through the room (sometimes fighting each other) or crying because they want to have us sit with them while they eat (seriously spoiled). There are so many other potential distractions that can lead me away from this sacred time – my time (e.g., the phone rings, an email pops up, etc.).  When these distractions occur (which they will), it’s good to have a system in place beforehand to recognize them and eliminate them so you can continue with your work.  I write in my office. And usually I have the door open, so the cats can come in and out as they choose. Usually it’s a great system because I love having them here with me. But sometimes they get a bit wild and distracting. When this happens, I simply close the door until I am finished writing. If the phone rings while I am writing, I don’t answer it. Simple as that. If email popups get distracting, I close my email program.  When you take the control back in your own life and schedule non-negotiable “you time,” you will no longer be at the mercy of all of these distractions. And you’ll feel more empowered and happy that, in this moment, you are putting your needs first, which is crucial for your own happiness. And when you are finished writing, creating, meditating, etc. – then you pick up where the distractions left off. Play with the cats, return the phone calls, answer the emails, etc. They will still be there when you are ready. And you will feel more whole and happy because you took care of yourself.  So practice this today – take some time for you and push aside any distraction that appears during your sacred time. Your soul will thank you for doing this.  P.S. – I would love for you to become a fan of my brand new Facebook page! This is where you will find updates about my new book and anything else that I have on the horizon! You can also follow me on my new Twitter page. Thanks for your support! πŸ™‚

Grateful for Choices

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to write a post about gratitude!
Feel free to click here (or below) to learn more about our Gratitude Project.
Okay – now for today’s post:

A writing prompt from

We all make choices every day in our lives.   Which choices have you made that you are the most grateful for? These choices could range from big ones that impacted your life drastically (such as where to live or who to be in a relationship with) to small ones such as what to have for lunch or what music to listen to at any given moment.  While the big choices are sometimes the super stars and the ones that get noticed, you may be surprised at how the little choices can add up quickly and have just as much of an impact on your life.
Let’s say you like going for walks, and you usually take the same route each day. And then one day you decide – just on a whim – to take a different route. And while on this route you meet someone that you hadn’t seen before and wouldn’t have seen if you had gone the other way. And you introduce yourself and begin a conversation with this person who you instantly feel like you know. You find that you had an instant connection, and you begin a friendship that will quickly become more and turn into a lovely marriage.  This is how Dan and I met – all because I made a choice to walk a different route.
We are constantly making choices in our lives.  Some big. Some small. And some small that turn into big.
Take some time today to think about some of the choices that you have made.

A Day of Celebration

I was born 36 years ago today. What a journey it’s been so far, and I’m just getting started! I have learned so much and had some really great times and some really horrible times – all of which have made me into the person I am today. All of which have gotten me closer to living my true life on my true path. All of which have led me closer to my life purpose.  I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many supportive friends and family – people who truly are on my team and who are rooting for me.  Thank you so much to everyone who has shared birthday wishes for me today! My inbox and facebook page were all filled up with love, which fills me with warm fuzzies. I woke up to a sweet serenade from my dear hubby – he learned two songs for me: You Gotta Have Faith and Faithfully (this is my year of taking a leap of faith). And then he took me on a scavenger hunt filled with clues about what my year would look like (amazing!), which ended with the biggest, sweetest present of all. He wrote a screenplay for me about the journey that I am on right now that is leading me to my true calling. It’s a screenplay and a vision board in one, and it’s simply wonderful. Even after almost 10 years together, I still pinch myself that he’s real. It’s so nice to be celebrated and to feel loved. That’s really all anyone could ask for, and today I feel it coming from everyone so fully and so completely.  Thank you so much!

Celebrating Our Differences – Part 2

I had so much fun celebrating our differences in yesterday’s post that I thought today’s post would be similar – just going a bit deeper with it.  This writing prompt from Journaling Further Within: 50 More Prompts for Self Exploration is perfect to help us begin to embrace our differences and celebrate how we are all unique. =&0=& When we start to see how similar we all are and try to understand why someone would have a belief that differs from our own, we can begin the process of supporting each other. We can begin the process of being sympathetic instead of judgmental. We can begin to understand that being different isn’t bad. If we were all the same the world would be a very boring place. Our differences add so much color to our lives. And this is such a great part of living!  So spend some time today thinking about someone in your life that differs in many ways from you. By putting yourself into their world and practicing compassion and understanding, you can begin to see that they are just doing the best they can with the tools that are available to them. This is true for each of us. We are each good at our core, and our differences are there to help us learn empathy and compassion. They are also great simply to show us another path – another option available to us. There are so many ways to spend our time on this planet – let’s celebrate our differences instead of seeing them as threatening. Let’s enjoy how unique we all are. They do say that variety is the spice of life. πŸ™‚

Celebrating Our Differences

I absolutely love Haagen-Dazs Mango Sorbet. Seriously – I am in love with it.   They were on sale the last time we went to the grocery store, so we bought two.  Dan and I thought it would be fun to each have our own and see who finished first.  And in doing so, we learned something about each other – even after almost 10 years of being together:  we eat our ice cream completely differently! My container had one hole in it that went deep down. I stuck with what worked and didn’t venture off of that course.  His container was evenly smoothed over – so he when he got to the bottom, it would be completely finished – nothing left behind. And this really didn’t surprise either of us at all – both ways seemed to fit with each personality. While we each wanted the same result (to finish the ice cream), we went about it in completely different ways. And one way wasn’t better than the other – they were just different. I think this is a really great metaphor for life – we are all living our lives and striving to do our best. We are all learning to love ourselves, our friends, and our family. We are each following our dreams and living our ideal lives. And we each get to that place in a different way, which is the magical part – the beautiful part. I love this – we can each learn so much from each other because we are each so different yet also so much the same. See, I told you it was good sorbet! πŸ˜‰

Saturday Selection – The Psychic Pathway

This week’s selection is a book that I just started reading: The Psychic Pathway by Sonia Choquette =&2=& A practical, step-by-step, 12-week interactive program that teaches you how to develop the intuitive sense that lies within you and to live in accordance with the soul’s purpose by discovering your center of spiritual power. The Psychic Pathway refines intuition into a life-enhancing tool that can be used every day.   We are all intuitive and have the ability to use our sixth sense – we just get distracted and forget to pay attention to it. This book helps you tap into your inner wisdom through meditation, exercises, and reflection.  I’m really excited to begin this process, and I wanted to share it with you as well! Sonia also has a weekly radio show called Trust Your Vibes on Hay House Radio.  I hope you enjoy this selection. I’ll keep you posted throughout the weeks on my own progress.

10 Things I Am Proud of Myself for…

We all know that keeping a gratitude list helps us stay centered and focus in on all of the positive parts of our lives – the parts that are working and flowing. And we know that the more we focus on them, the more positivity we will attract into our lives. It’s so great to go back to these lists when you’re having a not-so-positive moment – it’s an instant pick-me-up.  I thought it would be fun today to turn the gratitude toward ourselves and make a list of 10 things that you are proud of yourself for. It could be ten things that you did today, this week, this year, or over your entire lifetime.  Just the act of patting yourself on the back is so important and crucial to being able to truly love yourself. So let’s all do this today: 10 Things I Am Proud of Myself for Are… If you would like bonus points, you could even comment on each one and write down why it makes you proud.  What did you learn in doing it?  How has this made you a better person?  Have fun honoring yourself today. Your soul will thank you – I promise. Warm fuzzies all around. πŸ™‚
