inner-voiceI love journaling. It’s such a great way to get in touch with our soul. When my husband and I designed journals during our gift-business years, we always had requests from our customers to write some prompts to help them get started. (This is how our Soulful Journals series was born!) We both love to write, and it’s been such a treat to get to share these prompts with so many people through the years.

I was just sitting down to write this post, and I never know what’s going to come through. It’s never planned – I just close my eyes, put my hands on the keyboard, and begin to type. I was surprised to see these 16 prompts pour out, and I trust that they are meant to be shared.

Here they are:

Feel free to answer all of them or just any that are calling to you. You can answer them all at once or one a day. You can be as detailed or as brief with your answers as you would like. This is about you getting in touch with your soul. As long as you’re going in with that intention, you can’t go wrong! You can feel free to copy and paste them into Word and then print them out and write your answers. Or you can paste your answers into the comments below.

I went ahead and answered them, too! Here are my answers:

I’m so grateful that…my life is my own. That I have created a life that is filled with love, that feels authentic, and that nurtures my soul. I am grateful that I get to spend almost each moment of each day with my sweetie. I am grateful that my cats do something silly every day, which always makes me laugh. I am grateful that I have such a loving relationship with my mom. I am grateful for all of the nurturing friendships that surround me. I am grateful to be surrounded by so much beauty. I am grateful for my soul, my spirit guides, and the universe who always help me along the way. I am grateful that I am here – in this moment – sharing from my heart.

One old belief that I’m letting go of is…to feel that things will only work out if I push myself and work really hard to make them happen.

One new belief that I’m embracing is…that I can let go, and my life will flow much more easily. I am so used to holding on so tightly, and I’m getting so many messages that it’s time to release this tighthold and simply allow myself to go with the current of life. To remember that I can trust the universe, and that I don’t have to be in the driver’s seat.

I honor my own needs by…no longer working as much. But setting boundaries with myself and also with others. By making sure that I spend some time each day connecting with my soul in whatever way feels right: sitting in the sun, journaling, writing, spacing out, having quiet time, reading, taking a bath, etc.

One way that I’ve grown is…that I stop when I am tired – rather than pushing myself. I listen to my body much more. I have opened up spiritually and am embracing universal love. I trust myself and love myself enough to share my truth lovingly and authentically.

My fear is helping me by…letting me see what I’m afraid of. It’s through awareness that brings change, and so this is a helpful first step.

My body is asking me to…listen to its whispers when it’s asking me to slow down and be silent and step away from it all. To know that it’s on my team, and we both want the same thing: to be happy and joy-filled and vibrant and strong. It’s also asking me to start drinking green smoothies again, which is something I used to do every day but have gotten out of the habit of doing. It’s asking me to laugh more and walk more and get the energy flowing more.

I take responsibility for my life by…knowing that I create my own reality. I can’t pass the buck onto anyone else. If I see something about my life that I love, I can take in the good feeling of knowing that it’s here because I created it. Conversely, if I see something that I don’t love, I can consciously decide to change it. For much of my life, I gave away my power to others because it just seemed easier. But I love how empowered it feels to make my own decisions and to create my own world that’s a result of my thoughts, feelings, and desires. It feels really wonderful.

I am brave because I…listen to my heart. I said yes to opening my heart fully to my husband and took the leap to be in a relationship with him, and it’s been an amazing 13 years! I wasn’t fulfilled with working for others and being away from Dan for hours each day, and so we started our business together 11 years ago. That definitely took bravery (and still takes it each day). I’m brave because I have gradually shed the layers of skepticism that were covering my connection to my soul and to this magical universe, and it’s been such an amazing experience to live in the light! I’m brave because I show up authentically in the world, which isn’t always easy. Being vulnerable and honest can oftentimes feel so scary, but it’s also so worthwhile.

My dream is to…move to the beach and spend each day walking along the shore. To continue listening to my soul and deepening my connection with the universe. To share my love each day with Dan and other loved ones. To continue slowing down and honoring my body and energy. I would love to continue writing books that speak to others and hopefully inspire others. My dream is to feel content, joyful, and at peace the majority of the time.

I feel pure joy when I…am at the beach, playing with our cats, laughing with Dan. Sometimes joy sneaks up on me, and I find myself in a moment where I am completely at peace. That, to me, is joy. Sometimes it’s when I’m writing or when I’m creating something, and sometimes I’m not doing anything at all. Sometimes it’s when I’m shopping and looking at objects to bring into our home. And sometimes it’s when I’m eating a great meal. I love not knowing when I’ll feel it, and I love recognizing it when it comes.

One spiritual tool that I can begin using to deepen my connection with myself and with the universe is…grounding myself. I’m very sensitive to energy, and this is a practice that I would love to actually put into practice more often. I have several tools already to support me with this, and I am going to get better about using them.

One way I can consciously raise my vibration is…to focus on what makes me feel good and what is working rather than sadness, negativity, or what isn’t working. It’s a shift that can be made at any moment of the day, and it’s truly so easy. It’s just about creating a new habit. If something doesn’t feel right, or if I feel that I’m in a low vibration, I can instantly focus on something that makes me happy (such as Dan, my cats, a book I’m reading, a meal I recently ate, the beautiful weather, the birds outside, etc.), and I will immediately begin to feel my vibration raise.

My loved ones can best support me by…loving me for exactly who I am. That’s all.

The universe supports me by…always having my back and by loving me unconditionally. I feel the love always, and it’s amazing. It also supports me by lovingly nudging me when I’m moving away from my purpose or from my own connection with my soul, and that is a gift as well.

My soul wants me to know that…I am doing such a beautiful job of navigating my way along this journey. It wants me to know that everything is working out exactly how it’s supposed to in exactly the way that it’s meant to. It wants me to continue staying open to its loving messages and to continue taking them into my heart and sharing them with others.

I hope that these questions help you connect with your soul as much as they helped me connect with mine. I’m feeling much more grounded after responding to them. It always amazes me how little time it takes to bring ourselves back into alignment with our soul. I love that so much.
