soul speak 4th birthday copy

I am so happy to share that Soul Speak turns 4 years old today!

I began this journey all those years ago because my soul asked me to. I had just started to make a habit of listening to my soul after squashing its whispers for most of my life. It kept saying that it was time to go within and share some of the inner depths of my soul with others. I had no idea what the path ahead looked like, and, quite honestly, I was a bundle of fear and worry and doubt as I stepped into the virtual spotlight.

I was much more comfortable hiding behind our gift company and staying behind the scenes. I was afraid of so much – that maybe I wouldn’t know what to say or my words wouldn’t resonate or that this entire dream would be a huge flop. But I also knew on some deep level that it would all be okay. I knew that my soul wouldn’t have asked me to do this if it wasn’t what I was meant to do.

And so I showed up and trusted and put my entire heart into this site and this community. And, I’m so happy that it’s become the loving space that it has! It’s such great evidence of what can happen when we let our soul lead the way.

Along this journey, I’ve learned so much about myself and also about others and about our universe. My heart has opened wider than I ever imagined it could. I’ve been inspired and moved by those who are a part of this community. I’ve made lifelong friendships that feel more like soul reconnections than meeting for the first time.

I’m so thankful that the love that I have poured out has come back to me in such huge ways that I never could have imagined. You all have embraced each post with such love and warmth. You have helped Soul Speak to become the loving community that it is today. It’s been such a loving partnership that I look forward to continuing. I feel truly blessed that I get to write for a living, and I am so grateful for each of you for the role you have played in my dreams coming true. I hope that these words from my soul are helping you along the way!

I wanted to celebrate this milestone by sharing a few of my favorite posts through the years. There are almost 600 posts on Soul Speak, and it was fun to go back through them and see the journey that I’ve been on – that many of us have been on.

I hope you enjoy these posts!

shield copyPost 1: The Passing of Energy

I was reading last night about how energy is contagious – just like the common cold. And while we take many precautions to protect ourselves from getting sick when we come in contact with others (such as washing our hands), we don’t always take precautions to protect ourselves from taking on other people’s energy. And this passing along of energy works in both ways – positive and negative. Click here to continue reading.

dreams copyPost 2: Letting Go of the Dream

Sometimes we want something so badly, and we work so hard to get it. We struggle and sweat and pour our entire beings into it until it happens, it’s reality, and it’s part of our world. And sometimes it’s completely worth it, and it’s exactly what we hoped it would be. Click here to continue reading.

perspectivePost 3: How to Avert a Full-Blown Pity Party

We’ve all had moments where nothing seems to be going our way. Your day just isn’t working out the way you had hoped it would. In fact, when you really start to think about it, you realize that it’s not just that your day or week or year that isn’t working out: your life isn’t working out. And in realizing this, you begin to spiral downward into the deepest despair. You are quickly entering a place where nothing ever works, no one is ever on your side, you are never good enough, no one understands you, things never fall into place, and disaster strikes at any given moment. But…may I just suggest that before you turn this despair into a full-blown pity party, you try something first? Click here to continue reading.

fear controlPost 1: It’s Okay to Feel Afraid

Oftentimes, when we take a leap and step into the life that we feel we are meant to live, we feel afraid and unsure and unsettled. We wonder if we have made the right choice. We look around us, and it seems that everyone else is confident and entirely sure of themselves and their choices. And this causes us to feel alone and isolated in our frightened state of mind. We worry that something must be wrong with us – why can’t we just take the leap, be okay with it, and get on with our lives? But I have a secret to share: we’re all afraid. Click here to continue reading.

gifts-gifPost 2: Are You Willing to Toot Your Own Horn?

Why is it so hard to step into our own power? Why do so many of us have such a hard time claiming our talents and shouting them from the rooftops? We have no problem tooting our loved ones’ horns, yet when it comes to tooting our own, we suddenly become mute. On what page in the “How to be human” manual does it mention that we need to play small, minimize our accomplishments, cover up our talents, and always be our own biggest critic? I can’t remember reading that part, can you? But we must have read it – we must have studied it and taken really good notes – we must have internalized it. We must have believed it was true because “playing small” is so many of our default settings. I definitely would receive an A+ in this if there were a test or a grade. Click here to continue reading.

soul copyPost 3: Reconnecting with Your Soul

I write a lot about the soul – getting to know your soul, reconnecting with your soul, loving your soul, etc. Because of this, you might think that I’ve had a wonderful relationship with my soul for my entire life. Would you be surprised if I told you that it’s only in the last couple of years that I’ve been in touch with my soul? Like all of us, I was born a spiritual being in a human body. And like many of us, as life’s hardships piled up on top of me, I became more and more weighed down and grounded into the earth. I needed to learn how to survive and find ways to go on when I felt completely broken. After many years of these hardships piling up on top of the other, I eventually forgot about my soul altogether. It took a back seat to my human life, and it waited patiently for my return. Click here to continue reading.

the-momentPost 1: Why I Take Dark Showers

The last week has been emotionally draining for me. Between feeling completely powerless about a family crisis and still learning how to balance my life when I keep adding more in and haven’t been able to let anything go, it’s left me feeling depleted and absolutely exhausted. After a week that was filled with worry and emotional ups and downs and being “on” and out in the world for many, many hours, I did the only thing I could do last night: I took a dark shower. Click here to continue reading.

mindsetPost 2: Spiral Up – A Mindset Experiment

I believe that our mindset determines our quality of life. It determines how joyful we are or how miserable we are. And what I love about our mindset is that we have 100% control over it. It’s true that we may not have any control at all over some of our external experiences. We may not be able to control others’ emotions or reactions or statements. But we can control our mindset – how we perceive external stimuli. And that truly makes me happy because knowing this helps me feel empowered. Knowing this helps me see that I truly do have the power to create the life that I want. Click here to continue reading.

calmPost 3: Fitting In Is So Overrated

Each night before I go to sleep, I pick up whichever novel I’m in the middle of and read for a few minutes. It’s such a wonderful way to ground myself and create a relaxing space between the busy state and the dream state. Just recently, I was reading a novel called, Home Safe by Elizabeth Berg. I came across a passage that almost lit up for me on the page. Click here to continue reading.

5 questions copyPost 1: 5 Questions to Ask Yourself

Lately, I’ve been getting back to basics. Sort of hitting the reset button on my life. Bathing in a spiritual cleanse. I really recommend that we all do this from time to time. Hitting the reset button and giving ourselves space to get in touch with our inner wisdom is such a beautiful gift. Click here to continue reading.

grounding copyPost 2: 30 Ways that I’m Grounding Myself

I definitely can be stubborn. And I don’t always listen to the universe or to signs that are presented to me the first time I see them or feel them, especially if they are going to require me to change in some way. I’ve been receiving signs for years that it was time to get grounded. Click here to continue reading.

sensitivity copyPost 3: Honoring Our Sensitivity

I shared something on Facebook yesterday that seems to be striking a chord with many. It was a post that I was nervous to share – because even though I know that what I’m doing is right for me, I still have that piece that runs very deep within that feels that somehow I should feel bad or guilty for honoring my sensitivity and taking care of my own needs. Click here to continue reading.

Thank you so much for celebrating this special day with me! I’m so grateful that we’re on this soulful and loving journey together!

Hugs,

jodi
