I experienced something pretty amazing the other day:

While in the middle of shampooing my hair in the shower, half spacing out and half worrying about everything that needed to be done, I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I quickly turned around, assuming it was Dan, and no one was there.

It wasn’t a light tap. And it wasn’t a shove. It was a warm full-palmed hand on my shoulder that lasted for only a second.

While I would love to say that some clear message came through right then and there, that’s not what happened. Believe me, I was waiting. But what did happen was later that day it popped into my mind what this hand was telling me.

I kept hearing the words, “I’m here.” 

And I’m not entirely sure how I knew who was saying them, but I just knew that it was the bald guy from the dream that I had a couple of years ago (aka: my main spirit guide). I seriously should ask him his name one of these days, so he isn’t forever referred to as, “The Bald Guy from My Dream.” 🙂

Anyway, it was such a beautiful reminder for me.

To remember that even when I’m wrapped up in my own world and my own thoughts and my own drama, my guides are always here.

I love that he was just letting me know that.

I took it in, felt the magic, and then (to be completely honest) went about my life. And again (to be completely honest) pushed this experience and my guide and all of that aside and moved everything else ahead of it.

Until the other night. We were decorating our Christmas tree, and we plugged in a massively long strand of lights to make sure they worked (which they did). We strung them around the tree and realized that the entire middle of the tree wasn’t lit. For some reason, tons of lights weren’t working (even though they were all connected).

For those who have been with me for awhile, you may remember what happened last year with the lights on our Christmas tree. Every time I took care of myself, one strand would start blinking. (Yes, it was the strangest thing ever.) After awhile, I realized it was Sarah, my spirit guide who helps me practice self care. When we put the tree away, I took that strand, wrapped it around a frame, and put it in my office as a reminder to take good care of myself. (You can read more about this experience here.)

The other night the non-lit lights blinked twice (while the rest of the strand stayed lit the entire time). It was amazing. And needless to say, I was both surprised and also comforted that Sarah was back on the tree this year (even though the strand from last year is still in my office.)

These reminders that my guides are near me happen often, and I’m always grateful when they do. The reminders help me remember that I’m always supported and always loved. They help me remember that I’m being looked after. And that feels so, so good.

(And if you’re not sure, maybe you can take some time to ask them to show themselves to you. And then remember to stay open to receiving signs and taking them into your heart. It feels like absolute magic when we receive both the signs and the love from them.)
