Your ecourse is called, “Painting with Your Muse.” What does the word, “Muse” mean to you?

Thank you for inviting me to Soul Speak, Jodi!

When I speak of your Muse, I mean that part of you that is creative and wise. The part that reflects your authentic self. We all have an inner Muse.  For some of us our Muse may be elusive, or perhaps her voice is quiet or drowned out by other “should” voices, so we find it difficult to connect with her.

Why is it so important to connect with your muse?

Connecting with your Muse is more than connecting with your creativity.  We are all creative beings, and when we create we tap into our full potential for expression and connection with the world.  Connecting with our inner Muse allows us to utilize our intuitive side.  When we create through painting and other expressive arts, we invite the alchemy of creation.  By visualizing our inner world outwardly, we become clearer about who we are and where it is we need to go.  When we tap into our creative power through our muse we are in essence tuning into our inner wisdom and internal guidance system.

How does your course help with this?

Each and every one of us has an artist within. Permission is key. Once that inner artist is out, there is no stopping her! Give her the space and tools and she will create. Give her the right messages and support and she will flourish.

Sometimes it can be hard to hear your heart over those loud inner voices of self-doubt. I created Painting with Your Muse to help those who long to connect with their Muse more authentically. I offer it as a way to guide you back to your creative power, and inner wisdom.

This e-course is not about painting technique, it’s about re-learning how to trust your creative intuition. I share what I have learned and un-learned both as one who has struggled to claim the name “artist” and as an Art Therapist. I know how powerful it can be to reunite with your muse. I know how hard it can be to make that connection without support.

In Painting With Your Muse you will discover and tap into your creative source deep within through expressive arts exercises, guided meditations and videos guiding you through the intuitive painting process.

Can you share a bit more about what is covered each week?

Definitely!

  • In Week One we will lay the grounds for creative expression preparing your external and internal environment in order for your artist within to feel more comfortable.
  • In Week Two we begin to peel back the layers to your creative side, inviting you to loosen up and let go through different creative exercises.
  • In Week Three we explore the shadows, calling out and challenging the monsters that inhibit creativity.
  • In Week Four we continue to break the patterns that block your creativity.  Following your natural internal rhythm to connect with creativity.
  • In Week Five we delve deeper. Gently exploring your inner-landscape and creativity, and further connecting you to your creative source.

How does your Painting With Your Muse e-course work?

Each week we will start with some expressive arts exercises, I will guide you through some creative warm-ups to prepare you before you begin, then move into a guided meditation to help awaken your inner muse. Through videos I will gently guide you through the intuitive painting process.

Each week you will receive several videos and a new e-book with expressive arts exercises, inspiration and guidance to make shift happen.  There will be 2 live scheduled video conferences (to be recorded)  to check-in and talk about utilizing process painting to its fullest.  Plus you will receive 4 different guided meditations to compliment the theme of the week and to help you connect on a deeper level with your muse. Museful Inspiration via e-mail will be sent out regularly. There is also a supportive  private forum where you will have the opportunity to join with other painting Muses as well as receive guidance for your process  from myself.

Do you have to be an artist or is it also meant for people who consider themselves non-artists?

If this course speaks to you – it’s for you.  I have had both participants who considered themselves to be artists and also those who had never painted before in their lives.

This course if for you if:

  • You feel like your creative expression has plateaued and needs some reviving.
  • You want to explore your creative side & tap into your potential.
  • You’re tired of feeling creatively blocked.
  • You see yourself as an artist but would like to take your self-expression through art further.

What are some suggestions you have for people so that they can connect with their muse?

  • Stop being so serious: If you want to engage your Muse then be prepared to loosen up a little and stop being so serious.  If you find yourself making excuses not to create then yes you are being too serious! Your Muse needs the freedom, the room to be playful.  She doesn’t like to be confined to restrictions and expectations.  Don’t scare her away with your serious face.  She wants to have fun, throw those rules out the door
  • Stop judging yourself and your Muse: Allow yourself to have fun with your creativity.  Your Muse can be very sensitive. She doesn’t like to feel judged. Be gentle with her.
  • Give yourself the time to be with your Muse: If you are always rushing about busy with other more important things she is going to feel snubbed and likely she will feel like she is not important enough.  Be sure to set aside some time to play with your muse regularly.
  • Plan ahead: Schedule the time in your calendar. Don’t just say you are going to paint or play with your art materials when you have time on the weekend or maybe some other time this week.  Actually schedule it in and make it part of your routine – like you would brushing your teeth.  Start with a small amount of time and work your way up.
  • Stop the drama: Identify the messages that others have said to you in the past or present. Which ones have become the stories or excuse you tell yourself that keeps you from letting loose and creating fully?
