Have you ever watched someone else soar, and it made you want to flap your own wings and fly as well? Have you ever felt so inspired by someone that you wanted to share that feeling with everyone? Have you ever seen someone reaching their dreams, and it made your own heart swell with love and pride and excitement?
I have. I feel this all of the time. I am lucky to be surrounded by an amazing circle of friends: dear hearts that are leaping and dreaming and inspiring and leading and loving and learning and being exactly who they are meant to be. And it’s amazing to see and feel.
One of these beautiful soul friends just took a huge leap, and she’s flying so, so high. She allowed herself to push through her fear and her vulnerability and all of those things that may have normally kept her from flying. She pushed through and landed on the other side where she could inspire each of us to be able to do the same in our own lives.
My friend, Alia Indrawan, did it. She’s doing it. She’s reaching her dreams and saying yes to life. She’s a shining example of the grace that surrounds us when we listen to our inner voice and keep moving forward, even when we aren’t sure what’s ahead. She inspires me to keep going and keep believing and keep dreaming. And I know that she’ll inspire you, too.
Please watch her TED Talk below. Prepare to be moved. I know you will be. I still am. She’s just that wonderful and so filled with love and light and life. I love you, Alia!

Jodi, I am sitting here at a loss for words. I love you, my friend. What a surprise to wake up to on this breezy Bali morning. 🙂
I have to allow myself to sit with your beautiful words for a moment. I have been in the most vulnerable space these last few days and to have this pure love flow in is so comforting and warm and so very appreciated. Thank you for believing in me. YOU are such an inspiration to me. I’m very grateful that we were brought together on this path.
You are amazing. I appreciate you immensely.
So much love,
Alia
Alia, your spirit is so calming and your words so true. Letting go, celebrating life, living within the moment; all of these truths are key to our being able to live life to its fullest and offer back to this world our unique gifts. I needed this today and I’m so glad that I took this time to be with you…and listen.
Sending love,
Leah
Thank you so much, Leah. Julia (from Painted Path) mentioned your blog to me yesterday and I was ready to head over there today and “meet you.” 😉 And here you are. I just love how that works. I look forward to getting to know you. I’m so grateful for your comment.
So much love,
Alia

You are truly living your truth! Your love, compassion and connection to the Divine shines through when you are speaking. Thank you for sharing your gifts and wisdom not only with those who watch your video but the compassionate work you do with Hospice patients and allowing them to be fully heard and loved. Blessings!
Thank you, Linda. Although I am not working as a hospice nurse any longer (hospice is not available in Bali), this was the foundation for so much of what I presently live, as well as the work I do now. It changed my life beyond words. I appreciate your comment so much and look forward to reading Aspire!
With love and gratitude,
Alia
Thank you, Alia. I am definitely going to come back and listen to this again. I often wonder, what would my TED talk be about? It is a nice exercise. Thank you so much for sharing!
Jodi – beautiful post. Thank you! And oh, yes! I do soar, far higher, when my friends and my loved ones achieve a dream!
Vidya, that is a wonderful exercise. The personal, behind-the-scenes growth that occurred during this TEDx process was beyond what I could have imagined.
I’m very grateful for your comment. Love to you.
Hospus was a great experience for us when my mother was dying. Incredible how caring and gentle they were. Beautiful experiences you shared in your video Ali, thank you. I love the celebratory perspective, it reminds me of Alan Watts who talks about celebrating death (I have a post on my blog with the videos embedded of Alan speaking, they’re brilliant).
My mom wasn’t quite so surrendering as much as I wish she would have, her perspective was pretty much “get me the hell out of here” – she had ALS and she really didn’t want it and couldn’t accept it, unfortunately. But she did the best she could and she did it her way.
Thanks for putting this together Jodi, you are a master of bring the best to your community here.
David, thank you for sharing about your mother. I know that ALS is such a rough thing to deal with (just from what I saw with people in hospice). I can completely understand your mom’s desire to just get out of here. Like you said, she did it her way and that’s exactly what she needed to do. I found so often that sometimes the surrender didn’t happen until the very last minute – even the last breath. But, even then, something shifted to peace. There was always peace eventually.
Living in Bali really gives me a different perspective on celebrating the passing on of the Spirit. Some amazing beliefs around this that I’ll share soon.
Thank you again, David. I’m heading over to your website now. 🙂
I just love TED videos. Can’t wait to watch this one! Thanks Jodi!
This was so moving – by the end I had chills. I don’t really know what TED is but hope to explore it more. Thanks, Jodi, for being so generous – as always – with your blog and sharing so much about the lives of others. Alia’s loving spirit shone through and this was a wonderful reminder about celebrating life as well as it’s end in the human form. All the best, Lois
